We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Assistant Manager to join our friendly and supportive GP practice. We are a closely knit team that takes pride in patient care. We are a training practice and we actively support our staff to develop them.
Our aim is to deliver high-quality care to our patients. We are a large practice of approximately 11,500 patients.
Main duties of the job- Supporting the practice manager in the day-to-day operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities
- Providing leadership and guidance for the following staff:
Administration Manager, Reception Manager, Senior Administrator, Senior Receptionist and Lead Nurse - Lead on the recruitment of non-clinical staff, including advertising roles, vetting candidates, interviews and issuing employment contracts
- Co-ordinating for new hire orientations
- Compiling and maintaining paper, digital and electronic employee records.
- Coordinate all staff absences, maintaining an effective absences register
- Entering payroll details onto iris portal
- Ensuring staff adhere to policy and procedure at all times
- Carry out appraisals for non-clinical staff and work with them to create personal development plans (where appropriate)
- Monitoring compliance with health and safety legislation, providing leadership and direction for staff
- Developing, implementing and embedding an effective practice training programme for all staff (clinical and administrative), liaising with external agencies when necessary and maintaining a training record
- Manage compliance registers, supporting the practice manager, ensuring DBS checks are conducted.
- Support the management team in the compilation of practice reports.
- Maintain the significant event database, providing advice to staff and briefing the team at meetings as required.
- Identifying trends and devising solutions to reduce risk and repeated occurrences of significant events.
- Responsible for the timely preparation, submission and follow up claims (e.g. CQRS, DES, IIF, PCN-related activity, and locally enhanced services)
- Deputise for the practice manager in their absence
- Act as the primary point of contact for NHS(E), CCG, community services, suppliers and other external stakeholders in the absence of the practice manager
- Assist with the recruitment of staff as requested by the practice manager
- Support the practice manager in the reviewing and updating of practice policies and procedures
- Support the practice manager with CI and change initiatives.
- Manage asset registers as directed by the Practice Manager.
- Act as the communication link between the management team and staff.
- Represent the practice locally required.
- Maintain a working knowledge of CCG initiatives
Tettenhall Medical Practice is a large GP practice in leafy suburb of West of Wolverhampton serving around 11,500 patients. The practice is based in an NHS Estate with a friendly and supportive team. The workload in general practice is continuously evolving, and we aim to provide a great service to our patients.
We are looking for applicants with initiative, enthusiasm and a pleasant personality with leadership skills who can manage different tasks to fill this key position within our practice.

Qualifications
- Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
- Grade A-C in English and Maths.
- Previous experience in Primary care
- Leadership and or Management Qualification
- HR Qualification
