Overview
Health and Beyond is a large primary care partnership committed to delivering high quality evidence‑based care. We work in partnership with patients, staff and local agencies to create a seamless experience for the whole community.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure clinical practice is safe, effective and falls within NMC Code of Professional Conduct and scope of practice.
- Advise patients on general health care and refer to other members of the primary and secondary health care team as necessary.
- Provide assessment, screening, treatment services and health education advice, including chronic disease management (diabetes, respiratory), cervical cytology, dietary advice, blood pressure checks, urinalysis, NHS health checks, ear syringing, dressing, ECG, phlebotomy, routine injections, contraception, minor injuries, travel health advice and vaccination, routine immunisations, sutures/clip removal, baby immunisations, IUCD/IUS fitting, first registration checks and health surveillance.
- Collect pathological specimens (intravenous blood, swabs, smears) and perform investigatory procedures requested by GPs.
- Participate in administrative and professional responsibilities: accurate and legible notes, accurate clinical computer system entry, appropriate service claims, documentation associated with patient health care and registration, collection and maintenance of statistical information for audit, attend and participate in practice meetings, restocking and maintenance of clinical areas.
- Manage minor operations: maintain theatre and recovery suite, adequate staffing, equipment and stock, assist doctors with minor operations.
- Maintain supplies and equipment relating to patient care.
- Monitor training and personal development: yearly appraisal, participation in education and training of students, in‑house nurse‑training programme, continued education for revalidation, personal learning plan.
- Liaise with reception, office, pharmacy staff and other surgeries and agencies to ensure smooth running of the practice.
- Registered General Nurse with current NMC Registration.
- Fundamentals in General Practice Nursing (or equivalent experience/training).
- Minimum of 2 years post‑registration experience in General Practice.
- Experience using EMIS Web clinical system.
- Excellent communication, organisational and computer skills.
- Knowledge of QOF, PGDs, HPS and clinical governance.
- Experience in chronic disease management (diabetes or respiratory) is desirable.
- Childrens immunisations, cervical screening, travel health, wound management and understanding of QOF.
- Ability to work independently, under pressure and as an excellent team player.
- Desirable: chronic disease management (diabetes or respiratory).
- Will undertake full training for EMIS Web and other systems.
