Safeguarding Lead GP

Main duties of the job

• Policy & Procedure Oversight – develop, implement, and regularly review safeguarding policies and procedures.
• Support hub/practice safeguarding leads – meet periodically, discuss status, and share learning opportunities.
• Promote a safeguarding culture – advocate, embed learning into policies and systems of work.
• Engage in audits and represent the organisation at multi‑agency forums.
• Liaise with local safeguarding boards and partners to align policy with national guidance (e.g., Working Together to Safeguard Children, Care Act 2014).
• Ensure all staff (clinical and non‑clinical) are trained to the appropriate level and organise regular refresher training and updates.
• Lead information sharing – maintain accurate safeguarding records, comply with GDPR, and provide quarterly learning summaries.
• Monitoring & quality improvement – audit processes, report to the board, identify gaps and act on risks.
