Overview
The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Education and Training department invites applications for a Resuscitation and Clinical Skills Trainer. This role requires a registered health professional with a passion for education and training, excellent people skills, and confidence to present to staff from across the organisation. The post holder will be part of the Clinical Skills and Resuscitation Services team and contribute to the development and delivery of the Clinical Skills & Resuscitation training programme across the Trust.
The role also involves involvement in the national curriculum, insitu simulation, and the Audit and Research Programmes. It offers the opportunity to participate in local and regional multi-disciplinary simulation-based education programmes in high-fidelity simulation suites and insitu within the Trust.
- To be accountable for delivering evidence based standards of training, ensuring cost effective use of resources within allocated budget.
- Delivery of induction & mandatory staff training programmes for postgraduate doctors, postgraduate nurses & allied healthcare professionals.
- To work in partnership with other clinical leads to identify training needs within the Trust.
- To act as Instructor/coordinator for future National courses.
- To act up in the absence of the Clinical Skills & Resuscitation Officer, assuming management responsibilities for work streams within the department.
- To act as both a team member and an autonomous practitioner, ensuring department practices align with Trust policy, local and national guidelines.
- To undertake other duties agreed by the Clinical Skills team and Resuscitation Group.
- Act as part of the Trust Cardiac Arrest Resuscitation Team and respond to cardiac arrest calls utilizing Advanced Life Support skills as appropriate.
- Liaison with appropriate professional bodies.
- Active participation in the delivery of the medical undergraduate training programme.
- Active participation in the ongoing development and delivery of foundation year doctors programme.
- Active involvement in development, monitoring and audit of Clinical Skills practices and policies, exploring deficiencies and seeking methods of improving systems.
- Assist with the provision of information for clinical governance purposes and other external auditing bodies.
- Ensure continued personal development and affiliation to appropriate local, regional, and national groups (e.g., Resuscitation Group, Clinical Skills Network, West Midlands Regional Resuscitation Group).
- Personal responsibility for health and safety within the Department and familiarity with policies and procedures relating to the work environment.
- Maintain confidentiality for records, information and correspondence at all times.
- Contribute to achieving quality targets as stipulated by purchasers contracts and abide by Trust policies on Equal Opportunities, Data Protection Act, No Smoking, and Grievance and Disciplinary Policies.
Essential
- NMC/HCPC registered
- Post Graduate Diploma or equivalent experience
Desirable
- Valid ALS / ILS
- Post graduate certificate / degree in teaching or Generic Instructor Course
Experience / Skills
- Acute clinical experience band 5 and above
- Substantive clinical experience post qualifying
- Actively teaching within current role / involved with training
Desirable experience
- Evidence / able to share details of relevant clinical experience
- Evidence / able to share details of good teaching skills
