We have an exciting opportunity for a Recovery Hub Substance Misuse Nurse to join our Substance recovery Team at the West Midlands Regional Hub Office based at HMP Oakwood Visitors Centre.

As a Substance Misuse Nurse you will provide high‑quality, person‑centred care across three sites: HMP Oakwood, HMP Featherstone and HMP Brinsford. You will demonstrate a genuine passion for supporting individuals with substance misuse needs and a willingness to develop your knowledge and skills in this area. Previous experience in substance misuse or addiction services would be an advantage, but a strong commitment to learning and professional development is equally valued.

Salary:

This position is full time, you will receive an annual salary between £34,428 - £41,659 per annum FTE, depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, prioritising patient care to develop individualised packages of care through comprehensive assessment and recovery planning.
  • Deliver a range of treatment options including clinical and psychosocial interventions in both a group and 1‑1 setting with recovery at the centre of our healthcare wellbeing model.
  • Carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users.
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects and liaise with prescribers. Provide advice and information on a 1‑1 basis.
  • Support group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions, including occasional dispensing support.
  • Have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person‑centred approach.

Key Qualifications
  • Registered nurse with current NMC Adult or Mental Health registration
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD)
  • RCGP 1 in Substance Misuse or willingness to undertake one
  • Experience working with opiate‑dependent patients
  • Sound clinical substance misuse knowledge
  • Non‑judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Experience in hospital, community or prison environment is ideal but not essential
