Are you a skilled Gearbox Fitter who takes pride in precision engineering and quality workmanship?

Do you enjoy diagnosing faults, rebuilding complex machinery, and seeing a job done properly?

We’re looking for a hands‑on, detail‑driven Gearbox Fitter to join our busy and growing gearbox repair team. You’ll play a key role in dismantling, inspecting, rebuilding, and reporting on a wide range of industrial gearboxes — contributing directly to reliability, safety, and performance for our customers.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Dismantling and assembling a wide range of industrial gearboxes to a high standard
  • Carrying out detailed inspections and producing clear, accurate reports on condition and faults
  • Interpreting engineering drawings, technical data, and specifications
  • Ensuring all work meets quality, health & safety, and environmental standards
  • Working independently while taking full ownership of accuracy and workmanship
  • Supporting continuous improvement by identifying smarter, more efficient ways of working
  • Responding to urgent or emergency repair requirements when needed

This is a varied role within a busy workshop environment, offering real scope for development for the right person.

What We’re Looking For
  • Time‑served apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent hands‑on experience
  • Solid working knowledge of gearboxes and mechanical assemblies
  • Confident using measuring and inspection equipment to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical data
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive, practical mindset
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Health & Safety, environmental, or quality training is an advantage — but not essential.
Education / Experience
  • GCSEs (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a mechanical or gearbox‑related role
Why Join Us?
  • Stable, long‑term role within a specialist engineering team
  • Opportunity to work on varied and technically interesting equipment
  • Supportive workshop environment that values quality and skill
  • Career development potential for motivated engineers

If you’re a gearbox fitter who enjoys hands‑on engineering, fault‑finding, and producing work you’re proud of — we’d love to hear from you.
