I’m supporting a well-established engineering and manufacturing business that, due to continued growth within their fire and life safety design function, is looking to appoint a Fire Alarm CAD/BIM Design Engineer. This is a technically focused role, central to delivering compliant, high-quality fire alarm system designs for critical environments such as hospitals, care facilities, and complex commercial sites.
As the Fire Alarm CAD/BIM Design Engineer, you’ll be responsible for producing accurate, compliant, and detailed fire alarm system drawings in line with British Standards and client specifications. You’ll work closely with Design Engineers, Project Managers, and wider internal teams to ensure designs are delivered on time, to a high technical standard, and with full traceability across the project lifecycle.
Fire Alarm CAD/BIM Design Engineer
Job Description
Produce high-quality fire alarm system drawings in line with BS5839, BS7671, and customer requirements.
Create wiring schematics, device layouts, containment routes, as-built and network drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
Maintain accuracy of zoning, device legends, cable routing, drawing registers, and revision history.
Manage workload across multiple projects, prioritising urgent site changes and customer deadlines.
Collaborate with Design Engineers and Project Managers to resolve drawing and design-related issues.

Experience/Skills/Qualifications
Formal qualification in engineering, AutoCAD, technical drawing, or a related discipline.
Strong working knowledge of BS5839 and fire alarm system design principles.
Proven experience producing detailed CAD drawings, schematics, and as-built documentation.
Ability to work independently, manage own workload, and deliver under pressure with high accuracy.
Strong communication skills with experience liaising with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
