MOTOR VEHICLE LECTURER
START ASAP FOR ONGOING CONTRACT, FULL-TIME HOURS, ENHANCED DBS REQUIRED, COMPETITIVE RATES.
Job PurposeTo deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in Motor Vehicle and Automotive Engineering programmes, enabling learners to develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviours required for employment or further study within the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities- Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective lessons across a range of motor vehicle qualifications (e.g. Level 1-3, T Levels, apprenticeships).
- Teach both theoretical and practical sessions in workshop and classroom environments.
- Differentiate learning to meet the needs of learners with a range of abilities and backgrounds.
- Embed English, maths, digital skills, and employability skills into teaching where appropriate.
- Assess learner work in line with awarding body requirements and internal quality procedures.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to support learner progress and achievement.
- Track, monitor and record learner progress using college systems.
- Support learners to achieve high levels of attendance, retention and success.
- Contribute to curriculum development to ensure programmes remain current and aligned with industry standards and employer needs.
- Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and learning materials.
- Participate in internal verification, standardisation and quality assurance activities.
- Support inspections, audits and awarding body visits as required.
- Act as a tutor or course leader where required.
- Support learners with academic, personal or behavioural issues, referring to specialist services where necessary.
- Promote a positive, inclusive and respectful learning environment.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety in workshops and learning areas.
- Ensure learners follow safe working practices and use equipment correctly.
- Maintain workshop equipment and resources to a high standard.
- Engage in continuous professional development (CPD), including keeping up to date with automotive technologies and industry practices.
- Attend team meetings, training sessions and college events.
- Contribute to open days, learner recruitment and employer engagement activities.
