Sports Coach – SEND & SEMH

This inclusive school is dedicated to helping students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges reach their full potential. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Sports Coach to lead engaging physical education and sports sessions tailored to students’ individual abilities and needs. You’ll foster a safe and supportive environment where students can grow both physically and emotionally, using sport as a tool for inclusion, self-esteem, and resilience.

• Plan and deliver fun, inclusive sports sessions designed for students with SEND and SEMH needs.
• Adapt activities so all students can participate, regardless of physical, emotional, or cognitive challenges.
• Promote teamwork, self-confidence, and emotional well-being through sport.
• Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and support teams to align sessions with students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Monitor progress, provide feedback, and celebrate student achievements.
• Support emotional regulation and social development through structured activities.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students, offering guidance and encouragement.
• Ensure all activities are safe and comply with health and safety standards.

• Relevant sports coaching qualification or a degree in Physical Education/Sports Science.
• Additional SEND or SEMH-related training is highly desirable.

• Experience coaching or teaching children with SEND and/or SEMH needs is preferred.

• Adaptable coaching techniques to meet diverse student needs.
• Excellent communication, patience, and empathy.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and commitment to student safety.
• Creativity and enthusiasm engage students in sport.
• Positive, flexible, and resilient attitude with a hands‑on approach.
• Commitment to promoting inclusion and well‑being through sport.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
