OverviewThis role is for a Consultant Anaesthetist at The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. To assist the lead in the development of general anaesthesia services according to those agreed in the job plan, and to deputise for absent colleagues as far as is practicable.

To actively engage in planning and delivering developments in the Anaesthesia, Perioperative and Pain Medicine Directorate for the Trust, and to develop and maintain relevant skills and interests as per the Personal Development Plan.

Responsibilities- Cover the general on-call rota, including on-call for New Cross Hospital and second on-call.
- Assist the lead in developing general anaesthesia services according to the job plan.
- Lead in decision making about the suitability of high-risk patients.
- Manage general anaesthetic services to ensure safety and timeliness of delivery.
- Lead in developing and showcasing general anaesthesia modules in line with the RCoA curriculum.
- Develop local services and practice using appropriate quality improvement projects.
- Provide anaesthetic services as agreed in the Job Plan and take ongoing responsibility for patients under care.
- Co-operate with other (general) consultant anaesthetists to cover for annual, study and professional leave.
- Deputise for absent colleagues as far as practicable.
- Ensure adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in patient care to contact you when necessary.
- Plan and deliver developments in the Anaesthesia, Perioperative and Pain Medicine Directorate for the Trust.
- Full registration and a licence to practise with the GMC
- On the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of interview
- FRCA or equivalent
- CCT training or equivalent
- Subspecialty training or equivalent
