Role DetailsCity of Wolverhampton Council is shaping the future of waste management contracts across Wolverhampton, aligning with statutory requirements and industry advancements. We are seeking an experienced procurement professional with a strong background in waste-related procurements to lead high-value and/or highly complex procurement processes.
The Procurement and Commercial team is focused on transformation and continuous improvement, delivering value to stakeholders and residents. We are looking for a confident and skilled professional who can engage with a wide range of stakeholders and support the aspiration that residents live longer and healthier lives through effective procurement and commercial delivery.
Responsibilities- Lead procurement activities for the Corporate (Waste Contracts) category, including waste goods and services procurements and understanding of the Procurement Act 2023.
- Apply best practice in procurement and deliver immediate impact while simplifying processes for stakeholders.
- Develop options for effective decision making and problem solve to ensure compliant, value-for-money outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all processes and update systems accordingly; influence stakeholders at all levels and provide a quality, stakeholder-focused service.
- Deliver in a fast-paced environment, supporting multiple projects and complex procurements.
- Knowledge of Public Contract Regulations 2015.
- Knowledge of Procurement Act 2023.
- Ability to develop options for decision making and to problem solve.
- Experience in managing procurements that are high-value and/or highly complex.
- Experience leading on complex tender processes with stakeholders, cross-functional teams, legal services and partner organisations; experience in waste-related procurement exercises.
- A good understanding of the current market with waste suppliers and development of category strategies; ability to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations.
