About

the Role

The role of Strategic Business Manager is to drive, open and accelerate growth opportunities for BDI Business Units, primarily in BDI Strategic Accounts. As an SBM, your focus will be on a specific portfolio of products as identified by Business Unit leads with an aim to deliver tailored solutions to drive profitable growth. The role offers the chance to work cross‑divisionally within BD Interventional, expand knowledge of cross‑business functions, gain a deeper understanding of key account management and develop procurement/NHSSC relationships.

The NHS procurement landscape in the UK is ever changing, and in this role you will have the opportunity to be at the forefront in navigating and shaping our BDI solutions for this customer group.

Main Responsibilities
  • Driving cross‑divisional accelerated sales growth in Strategic Partnership Accounts.
  • Set out a Strategic Partnership Account strategy for the designated Territory.
  • Build relationships with senior stakeholders to establish Strategic Partnerships that support the use of BDI products and business solutions in acute settings.
  • Manage large, complex, multi‑stakeholder projects to drive sales.
  • Promote and execute BD Interventional product leadership strategies and value propositions.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing and Market Access teams to open and drive sales opportunities.
  • Achieve a balance of risk between sales channels.
  • Support bids and contracts – assisting and acting as advisor to sales teams.
  • Relationship management – both internal and external customers.
  • Liaise and negotiate with NHSSC/procurement hubs for inclusion of BD Interventional products on framework agreements.
  • Drive Value Based Healthcare, Signature Solutions and share best practice across BD.
  • Build a network regionally/nationally of key healthcare influencers.
  • Establish differentiation in BD Interventional solutions.
  • Feedback to senior management on opportunities, risks and changes in the healthcare landscape.
  • Ensure compliance with ABHI/Eucomed guidelines.
About You
  • Minimum of 4 years medical device sales experience.
  • Degree or equivalent level education – MSc desirable.
  • Sales Management (or equivalent) in the medical devices industry – desired but not essential.
  • Solid understanding and experience of working in the UK procurement landscape.
  • Proven successful sales track record.
  • Strong negotiation skills with procurement and budget holders.
  • Experience in navigating a complex selling environment.
