Position: Occupational Therapist | Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust

Overview

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist with strong skills in recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and strengths-based practice?

Our Community Perinatal Mental Health Team provides specialist care for those experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties during the perinatal period. We work closely with a number of both internal and external sector partners to deliver holistic, integrated care.

This role offers the chance to be part of a compassionate, forward-thinking team in which you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, recovery-focused and occupation-centred care. We believe in developing people, and welcome new experience and knowledge to aid team growth.

We are currently undergoing an exciting period of development and transformation, with a strong focus on; improving access, experience and outcomes for service users and families; strengthening multidisciplinary and multi-agency working; embedding culturally sensitive, and occupation-focused practice; developing community-based interventions and pathways.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake specialist occupational therapy assessments in community settings, including service users’ homes, clinics and where appropriate online.
  • Develop and deliver individualised, occupation-based interventions to support daily functioning, routines, roles, and identity during the perinatal period
  • Plan and facilitate therapeutic groups, where appropriate
  • Contribute to risk assessment, care planning, safeguarding, and discharge planning
  • Work collaboratively with perinatal colleagues, extended services, families and carers
  • Provide supervision and support to junior staff and students, as required
  • Actively contribute to service development, quality improvement, and outcome monitoring
Requirements / Must haves
  • Be a qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration
  • Have post-registration experience, with the ability to work autonomously in community settings
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and has access to a vehicle for community work
