As our Director Financial Control for Europe at Smollan Europe, you will are the engine room of our financial operations. Reporting directly to our European CFO, you will bridge the gap between high-level strategy and operational excellence.

This isn't just a "numbers" role; it is a leadership position that oversees Group Reporting, Tax, Treasury, and our Finance Shared Services (FSS) function. You will play a critical part in our M&A activity—not just during the deal, but by leading the integration of new businesses into our fold. We are looking for a technically brilliant accountant who enjoys the "people" side of finance as much as the "process" side.

The Role:

What You’ll Be Doing;
  • Leadership & Team Growth:
Manage and mentor a team of four senior direct reports (including the Head of FSS, Tax, and Reporting), ensuring clear succession plans and a high-performance culture.
  • Operational Oversight:
Partner with the CFO to run a lean, efficient finance function. This includes managing the monthly consolidation, statutory accounts, and the annual audit process.
  • Strategic Integration:
Work closely with the leadership team on acquisitions, from initial relationship building to the hands-on execution of accounting and integration plans
  • Specialist Functions:
Manage the Group’s Tax and Treasury functions, overseeing complex restructuring, cash flow forecasting, and banking relationships.
  • Transformation & Systems:
Support the Enterprise Systems team on large-scale transformations, leveraging technology (like BPC) to drive efficiency across the European group.
  • Stakeholder Partnership:
Build genuine, trust-based relationships with regional teams across Europe and our Global HQ.
What You’ll Bring and Who You Are:

You are a qualified professional (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments. You likely have a background in large group structures and aren't intimidated by the "moving parts" of a multi-national business. Specifically, you bring:

  • Technical Depth: A strong grasp of consolidations, statutory accounting, and complex group restructuring.
  • A Change Mindset:
You don't just follow processes; you improve them. You have a track record of driving change within project environments.
  • Analytical Ownership:
You can dive into the data, draw sound conclusions, and take full ownership of the outcomes.
  • Resilience:
You are comfortable with ambiguity and the pace of a growth-oriented business.
  • Technical

    Skills:

Advanced Excel is a must; experience with BPC or similar consolidation systems is a significant advantage.
What’s in it for you?

At Smollan, we offer more than just a seat at the table. You will have a genuine opportunity to influence the financial DNA of our European business. We provide a competitive salary, a performance-led bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package—all within a culture that values heritage and innovation in equal measure.

Ready to lead our European finance function?

If this sounds like your next challenge, we are ready to receive your application.
