Job Description Summary
The Instructional Designer/Content Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high‑quality learning solutions that enable capability building across the organization. This role requires strong instructional design expertise, advanced visual design skills, and the ability to translate complex business or technical concepts into engaging, multi‑modal learning experiences. The ideal candidate is a skilled project manager who can balance multiple priorities, collaborate effectively with stakeholders, and ensure all learning solutions meet the BD Excellence Academy’s standards for quality and associate experience.
Reporting to the VP, Training and Learning Development, BD Excellence Office, this role collaborates closely with the Sr. Manager, Learning Operations as well as BD Excellence tool owners and key BD Excellence leaders across the organization to bring scalable, high‑impact learning solutions to life.

- Design and develop learning solutions across all major modalities, including eLearning, Instructor‑Led Training (ILT), Virtual ILT (VILT), microlearning, video‑based learning, job aids, toolkits, guides, and simulations.
- Apply instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE and design thinking principles.
- Conduct needs assessments, audience analysis, and content analysis.
- Develop assessments, role‑based activities, scenario‑based activities, and practice opportunities.
- Ensure content aligns with adult learning principles, accessibility standards, and brand guidelines.
- Create visually compelling layouts, infographics, illustrations, and multimedia.
- Apply strong graphic design fundamentals to ensure clarity, consistency, and high production value.
- Maintain alignment with BD brand and visual identity.
- Manage project timelines, deliverables, reviews, and communications.
- Oversee multiple projects while maintaining quality.
- Collaborate with SMEs, business partners, and cross‑functional teams.
- Use critical thinking to solve design challenges and inform decisions.
- Ensure materials meet BD Excellence Academy’s quality standards for accuracy, design, and instructional effectiveness.
- Evaluate learning experiences and apply insights.
Stay current on learning technologies and design trends.
- Skilled in instructional design with experience translating complex topics into clear, engaging learning.
- Strong visual design skills and familiarity with modern digital design tools.
- Comfortable organizing multiple projects and prioritizing effectively.
- Experienced working with subject experts and teams from different areas.
- Curious about new learning technologies and design trends.
- Thoughtful problem solver who enjoys refining content for quality and impact.
