New SMT Team Lead job in Woking, Surrey! Are you an experienced professional with a passion for managing a skilled team in a high-tech manufacturing environment? We are seeking an SMT Team Lead to oversee a specialised group of assembly technicians working on high-value electronic products used in motor sport and high-end automotive applications. This role is based in a cutting-edge facility in Woking, Surrey and offers the chance to work with advanced machinery and industry-leading technology.
- Lead and manage a team of three specialised assembly technicians.
- Operate and program pick and place machines, including a 3x ASM SX line.
- Oversee the use of additional equipment such as 3D AOI, Selective Soldering, X-Ray, and Conformal-Coating machines.
- Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed and liaise with suppliers for machine maintenance.
- Allocate resources effectively and provide technical leadership on key projects.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on resource forecasting and project planning.
- Support DFM (Design for Manufacture), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFT (Design for Test) with the NPI team.
- Lead production and inspection activities to ensure products meet the highest quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in line with ISO
9001 standards. - Provide mentorship and development opportunities for team members.
- Proven experience in low-volume SMT assembly with pick and place machines.
- Strong knowledge of IPC Class 3 standards.
- A solid understanding of safety regulations and industry standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team effectively.
- Excellent time management and resource allocation skills.
- A strong eye for detail and commitment to quality and efficiency.
- A track record of working in high-technology environments.
- Experience in people management, including performance and development planning.
