We have an exciting opportunity for a Packaging Development Manager to join our RDQ Packaging team and act as the packaging business partner for both Segment and Cluster. This is a high‑impact role driving packaging innovation, sustainability, value creation and go‑to‑market excellence across multiple markets. Aboutthe Role
As Packaging Development Manager, you will play a key role in defining and delivering the packaging strategy across your Segment/Cluster. You will champion packaging innovation, lead sustainability initiatives, and ensure quality implementation from concept to launch. You will manage a team of packaging experts and operate within our Packaging Community of Practice, driving best practice, elevating design capability, and ensuring our packaging delivers competitive advantage, consumer delight and regulatory compliance.
The role requires close collaboration with RDQ, Marketing, Insights, Procurement, Supply Chain, SU teams, co‑packers and external partners.
- Support the Packaging Lead in shaping and executing the Packaging Strategy across Innovation, Renovation, Sustainability and Fuel for Growth programmes.
- Lead packaging development projects from ideation to launch across Segment/Cluster, ensuring on‑time delivery and high‑quality execution.
- Act as the key packaging partner for Marketing, RDQ and Insights to build strong innovation and sustainability pipelines.
- Drive Packaging Go‑To‑Market Excellence, including user experience, printing, sustainability, compliance, quality reviews and activations.
- Lead and develop a team of packaging professionals across multiple locations.
- Build and influence the Packaging Community of Practice to harmonise ways of working and share best practices.
- Champion packaging sustainability strategy and ensure all sustainability, legal and tax requirements are delivered on time in full.
- Lead or delegate Fuel for Growth packaging initiatives and identify future value creation opportunities.
- Relevant Scientific Degree (Technical, Materials Science, Packaging, Engineering).
- 6–8+ years’ experience in FMCG packaging development.
- Strong understanding of packaging regulation, legal labelling and sustainability requirements.
- Proven track record in packaging innovation, renovation and delivering sustainability programmes.
- Excellent technical project management skills across complex initiatives.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and influence at senior levels.
- Experience leading teams and driving capability development.
- Strong business awareness, consumer understanding and passion for packaging.
- Ability to build strong partnerships internally and externally.
