Role OverviewWe are hiring a Telematics Control Unit (TCU) Project Engineer who will take end‑to‑end ownership of the TCU and its associated connectivity components used across multiple vehicle programs. This includes requirements definition, sourcing, hardware/software development oversight, supplier management, integration, validation, issue management, and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and quality processes.
The Project Engineer will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams including system engineering, architecture, validation, cybersecurity, cloud/backend, manufacturing, and product management to ensure reliable, high‑quality delivery. This role requires strong technical leadership, excellent communication, and accountability throughout the component lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Define system, hardware, and software requirements for the Telematic Control Unit (TCU) and associated connectivity components.
- Lead supplier evaluations, sourcing activities, and manage technical deliveries for TCU hardware, firmware, SIM/eSIM, GNSS, antennas, and connectivity services.
- Oversee development of TCU hardware platforms, firmware, middleware, and application‑level telematics features.
- Ensure seamless integration of the TCU with vehicle networks including CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, diagnostics (UDS/DoIP), and backend/cloud ecosystems.
- Plan and execute RF, GNSS, network connectivity, diagnostics, environmental, and durability validation for TCU systems.
- Support prototype, pre‑production, and production builds with hands‑on TCU integration, flashing, provisioning, configuration, and issue resolution.
- Analyze telematics issues using logs, traces, bus captures, backend data, and network‑level diagnostics; perform structured root‑cause investigation.
- Deploy corrective actions including firmware updates, calibration refinements, hardware fixes, and OTA patch releases.
- Ensure readiness for global certification, regulatory compliance, carrier/operator approvals, homologation, and OTA lifecycle update strategies.
- Maintain end‑to‑end traceability of TCU requirements, specifications, validation evidence, release notes, and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal cross‑functional teams (EE systems, software, cybersecurity, cloud/backend, manufacturing) and Tier‑1 suppliers to ensure technical alignment.
- Drive continuous improvement in telematics system architecture, connectivity robustness, performance, and field diagnostics.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics, Telecommunications, Embedded Systems, or related engineering domain.
- 4–10+ years of experience in automotive telematics, TCU development, or connectivity systems.
- Strong expertise in CAN, LIN, Flex Ray, Ethernet, SOME/IP, DoIP.
