The Raytheon team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) Software Department. The MDS Software mission is to provide world‑class radar and Command and Control (C2) Software for our customers’ wide array of surveillance and warning systems. As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development, integration, and deployment of mission‑critical systems that support programs such as the Army Navy/Transportable Radar Surveillance Model 2 (AN/TPY‑2).
The role of Senior Software Engineer requires advanced technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to mentor junior team members while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑quality software solutions.
What You Will Do- Design, develop, integrate, and test software solutions to address complex system requirements in an agile, collaborative environment.
- Analyze, implement, and test software modifications to enhance the functionality and performance of the existing system baseline.
- Lead and participate in software design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues based on software trouble reports.
- Collaborate with systems engineers, integration and test engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of software solutions into radar and Command and Control systems.
- Contribute to agile execution and continuous improvement initiatives, driving best practices and process efficiencies across the team.
- Ensure high‑quality software deliveries to the site multiple times a year, meeting customer requirements and program timelines.
- Mentor and guide junior software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
- Advanced radar and Command and Control systems concepts, including the workings of real‑time, mission‑critical systems.
- Best practices for designing and maintaining software solutions for large, complex defense systems.
- Agile and Dev Sec Ops methodologies to enable efficient, high‑quality software development and delivery.
- Integration of advanced software solutions into existing system baselines to meet evolving customer needs.
- Leadership skills to coordinate and contribute to multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Experience developing software using C, C++, or Ada in a team‑based, agile environment.
- Experience with the software development lifecycle, including design, development, integration, and testing.
- Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with systems engineers, test teams, and other stakeholders to address complex technical challenges.
