Position: Specialized Skills Instructor – Journey
Location: Woburn, MA
Pay rate: $21.00 per hour
Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday (8am-4pm)
Summary & ResponsibilitiesThe Specialized Skills Instructor is a specialized role within our Day Services Program that mentors individuals with higher abilities on the autism spectrum to enhance their independence by helping them network socially, develop friendships, and create new relationships through our Upward Program.
- Provide personal assistance, teach, and support a group of young people who have autism without a developmental disability
- Assess individuals’ training needs, cultivate descriptive teaching programs, and monitor effectiveness through data collection
- Adapt your own interests (art, music, cooking, health & fitness, etc.) to teach others new skills
- Develop and implement community-based activities
- Provide personal care and assistance to individuals consistent with individual needs as they strive to reach their goals
