Overview
The mission of the Department of Revenue’s Child Support Services Division is to enhance the well‑being of children by partnering with parents and caregivers to meet the financial needs of the family. Effective child support services are an essential part of the larger effort by the Commonwealth and the federal government to promote families' economic self‑sufficiency. DOR/CSS’s core functions are to establish parentage, and establish, enforce and modify child support and health insurance orders.
Much of our success depends on collaborations with a wide variety of state agencies and private entities.
This position will support the North Regional office with a focus on the obligated caseload population. The intern will review subsets of the obligated caseload to gather data, assist with identifying cases for various administrative enforcement remedies, and identify cases appropriate for closing. The intern will also assist with incoming enforcement appeals and inquiries.
Core Responsibilities- Assist with data integrity reviews of cases to correct errors.
- Contact customers via phone and/or email to solicit documentation and gather missing information.
- Complete research to supplement case information by accessing various systems, including documenting and uploading results.
- Work with various units on responding to customer referrals including inquiries received through our Customer Service Bureau and Virtual Counter.
- Ability to accurately gather and record information by questioning individuals, reviewing records, and documents.
- Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential information.
- Ability to establish rapport and to collaborate with others to accomplish work objectives.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
