Responsibilities- Lead risk and reliability analysis for VEIR products, ensuring critical customer reliability targets.
- Begin quantitative risk assessment for the cryogenic cooling system and superconducting cable in the first 3 months.
- Lead development of the FMEA for the indoor product in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Work with the product team to iterate on system modifications that enhance performance and align with customer requirements.
- Conduct reviews and document lessons learned from the indoor product FMEA.
- Review VEIR system and recommend software and methods for performing risk and reliability assessment.
- Share initial analysis and findings with VEIR engineering teams.
- Provide design recommendations that enable the system to meet reliability targets in the first 6 months.
- Share findings and insights with customers and identify gaps in component reliability that impact system design.
- Recommend changes to inspection and maintenance procedures and continue refining the indoor product FMEA as the product design matures.
- Complete first draft of the FMEA for the indoor product, lead updates on conducting a GAP analysis and identifying mitigation strategies.
- Finalize the first draft of the risk assessment for the indoor product.
- Use findings to recommend design changes for VEIR’s future product generations.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Nuclear, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- 12+ years of experience in reliability engineering, such as fluid systems, power systems, cryogenics, or thermal management.
- Strong knowledge of system optimization, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer.
- Demonstrated experience leading FMEA and risk analysis (e.g., Fault Tree Analysis, Probabilistic Risk Assessment).
- Experience with engineering modeling software (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink).
- Familiarity with power transmission systems and/or data center operations.
- Experience designing, modeling, testing complex thermal or electromechanical systems.
- Highly curious, solutions‑oriented, and adept at deconstructing complex problems.
- Energetic in fast‑paced environments, comfortable with ambiguity, and able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Outstanding communicator across all levels of the organization.
- Highly motivated, self‑starter with a positive approach to problem solving.

VEIR is committed to equal pay for equal work in its compensation practices. The base salary range for this position in the U.S. is $170,000 - $190,000 per year plus equity and benefits. Salary is determined by relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location.
