We are currently seeking candidates for an Accounting Manager opportunity with a highly successful and innovative technology company located in the Greater Boston Area. The Accounting Manager will be "hands‑on" in managing daily accounting operations, month‑end close, labor posting, billing, and reporting responsibilities. Previous experience utilizing Deltek Costpoint and Deltek Time & Expense are required.
This is a 6‑12+ month contract opportunity, paying between $55‑$70/hour (depending on experience).
Responsibilities- Accounting Operations & Month-End Close:
Own the monthly close cycle: prepare, review, and post journal entries (accruals, prepaids, allocations, reclasses, and reversals); maintain the close checklist; and perform trial balance review and account analysis to ensure general ledger accuracy. - Balance Sheet & Reconciliations:
Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations across cash, AP/AR, payroll liabilities, and accrued expenses; investigate and resolve variance. - Labor, Timekeeping, & Payroll Support:
Manage timekeeping workflows including timesheet cycles, approvals, and corrections; post labor transactions and support labor distribution; troubleshoot posting errors and partner with project stakeholders to resolve time‑charging discrepancies. - Project & Contract Accounting:
Support project accounting including charge structure validation and project setup; track and reconcile unbilled/contract assets; generate customer invoices; assist with AR aging and cash application. - Accounts Payable:
Own end‑to‑end AP processing — coding, approvals, and posting — along with vendor maintenance and documentation controls. - Reporting & Analysis:
Produce and validate recurring reports covering project performance, billing and unbilled status, and AR/AP aging; document report logic and drive improvements in reliability for leadership use. - Process Improvement:
Identify control gaps, workflow bottlenecks, and process improvement opportunities.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5–10+ years of progressive accounting experience with substantial hands‑on Del Costpoint experience.
- Demonstrated ability to independently execute and manage a full month‑end close in Deltek Costpoint.
- Experience administering Deltek Time & Expense timekeeping workflows.
- Experience in a government contracting environment with working knowledge of FAR, DCAA requirements.
- Billing experience on fixed‑price contracts including milestone invoicing and unbilled asset management.
- Proficiency with Deltek Business Intelligence (BI) reporting.
- Advanced Excel proficiency (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation and variance analysis).
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
