Quality Control
The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality systems that ensure products meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements. This role leads quality-related activities across the organization, such as managing Product Quality Reports (PQR), vendor quality management, QC lab oversight, and close collaboration with Engineering Dept. to drive continuous improvement in product design and manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities Quality Systems & PQR Support- Manage a team of quality engineer(s) and quality assurance technicians to ensure world‑class quality and efficiency.
- Lead and support quality‑related issues associated with PQRs.
- Investigate nonconformances, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Create and maintain quality documentation, procedures, and records in compliance with company and customer requirements.
- Serve as the primary quality contact for vendors and suppliers.
- Manage the inspection process vendor‑supplied parts.
- Work hand‑in‑hand with vendors to resolve quality issues.
- Manage vendor rejections and quarantined items, document cases, and follow‑up to ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Participate in supplier evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee and help manage the QC lab within the machine shop.
- Ensure inspection methods, measurement techniques, and test equipment are accurate, calibrated, and properly maintained.
- Support first article, in‑process, and final inspections as required.
- Provide guidance and training to QC personnel and inspectors.
- Work closely with Engineering Dep. to review and improve drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
- Provide quality input during design reviews and drawing revisions to improve manufacturability and inspection clarity.
- Support process improvements to reduce defects, scrap, and rework.
- Participate in cross‑functional teams focused on quality, cost, delivery, and efficiency improvements.
- Troubleshoot issues and provide technical support to Assembly and Test groups to help production efficiency.
- Gather feedback from Assembly and Test groups to prevent recurring issues.
- Process the disposition of returned material (RMA) according to Company policy.
- Support customer quality concerns, and inquiries as needed.
- Prepare and present quality metrics and reports to management.
- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in a Quality role within a manufacturing or machine shop environment.
- Strong knowledge of quality systems, inspection methods, and root cause analysis.
- Experience working directly with vendors and managing supplier quality issues.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
- Attention to detail with a hands‑on approach
- Leadership and team‑building skills
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Operations, R&D, Assembly, Test, Paint, Warehouse, and Purchasing.
To perform this job successfully an individual should have the understanding and aptitude to work with computer inventory programs, manufacturing software, order processing systems and have the ability to use computers efficiently including Microsoft Office Products. Knowledge of D365 is a plus.
