Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Engineering
The Pre‑Production Technician supports the transition from prototype to mass production by validating parts, materials, documentation, and processes. This role prepares all necessary production materials — such as labels, BOMs, proofs, and instructional documents — and ensures projects move efficiently through the pre‑production cycle. The technician works closely with design, engineering, and assembly teams to confirm accuracy and readiness before production begins.
Responsibilities- Review proofs and production specifications for accuracy and completeness.
- Determine documentation requirements and gather all needed information, parts, and materials.
- Maintain and update proof and sample archives.
- Ensure required tooling, equipment, and materials are available for proof builds.
- Complete pre‑production validations within designated time frames.
- Resolve missing specs, details, or components that impede project progress.
- Print, review, validate, and finalize labels, hardware sheets, and production documents.
- Provide accurate, approved proof copies for all required materials.
- Collaborate with designers to build and validate proof samples.
- Identify assembly requirements, potential issues, and handling considerations.
- Verify accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs) line by line.
- Confirm packaging integrity, corrugate usage, and document packaging details within the BOM.
- Obtain necessary pre‑production approvals and sign‑offs.
- Create assembly plans and supporting materials (photos, videos, examples).
- Demonstrate builds and assist assembly leads with line setup and concerns.
- Update legacy or outdated BOMs to current formats.
- Attend and document project debriefs.
- Support engineering with sample builds, packaging evaluations, and prototype BOM validation.
Education
- High school diploma
Experience
- 3-5 years of related work experience
