Controls & Instrumentation Engineer II

Abbott – Diabetes Care business designs, develops, and manufactures leading‑edge glucose monitoring systems and test strips. Overview

You will contribute to the research and investigation of technologies that may prove suitable for integration into future products and processes. Your main responsibility will be to provide Controls & Instrumentation Engineering expertise to a multi‑disciplinary team of scientists and engineers on groundbreaking engineering projects. Whether you help with product development projects from initiation through to manufacture, design control systems, source and test instrumentation to prove suitability for application, or characterise and optimise equipment, you will play a pivotal part in the R&D Engineering team.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to design, development, and optimisation of control systems.
  • Source, test, and evaluate instrumentation for suitability.
  • Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams on investigative research.
  • Work in an R&D environment, demonstrating creative and innovative problem‑solving.
Qualifications
  • HNC level or higher in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering.
  • Strong experience in PLC (Siemens S7), HMI, Motor Control, Vision Systems, Instrumentation, and PID control systems.
  • Additional skills in database development are beneficial.
  • Practical experience with electrical systems required.
