Logistics Specialist
Position SummaryThe Logistics Specialist position contracts freight for all outgoing and incoming shipments out of all vendor locations and Mac Donald & Owen facilities. Also contracts freight for all outgoing and incoming shipments out of Mac Donald & Owen’s distribution facilities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Verify freight shipments
- Contract all incoming and outgoing shipments with freight carriers
- Verify all ready dates with the production team
- Email available incoming and outgoing load list to freight carriers
- Complete a weekly one-on-one meeting with your supervisor
- Maintain current insurance paperwork for domestic freight carriers
- Communicate regularly with the sales team and the purchasing team regarding current market trends in the freight industry
- Book LTL shipments and create appropriate bills of lading for these shipments as necessary
- Approve freight invoices
- Support the export delivery team
- Negotiate discounts and rates with new freighters
- Negotiate contracts with freight carriers
- Process paperwork for claims with freight companies
- Communicate with the sales manager, sales team members, and purchasing manager on a monthly basis regarding current market trends in the freight industry.
- Problem-Solving: Resolve shipment issues (delays, damages, challenges) quickly and effectively
- Negotiation: Work with carriers to secure competitive rates and favorable shipping terms
- Regulatory Awareness: Stay current on customs regulations, tariffs, and export restrictions to ensure full compliance
- Adaptability: Adjust to shifting priorities, customer demands, and unexpected logistics changes
- Risk Management: Identify potential issues in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them
- Multitasking: Manage multiple orders, schedules, and requests simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and efficiency
- Must speak, understand, and write fluently in English
- Minimum 1 year of experience in logistics/freight preferred

Salary will be determined by a combination of factors, including but not limited to education and work experience. The actual offer may vary, reflecting the candidate's experience, education, and skill level.
