Traveling Mechanic

Rock Solid Stabilization & Reclamation, Inc. is seeking a skilled and dependable Traveling Mechanic to join our soil stabilization team. In this role, you will support field operations by maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of heavy equipment used in soil stabilization, including reclaimer/stabilizers, water trucks, tractors, graders, compactors, and support vehicles. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on mechanical work, problem‑solving, and working independently in the field.

• Perform on‑site diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on soil stabilization equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel engine issues.
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure equipment safety and reliability.
• Collaborate with field supervisors and equipment operators to minimize downtime.
• Travel to job sites across the region (overnight travel required).
• Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company and OSHA standards.

• 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, field mechanic, or diesel technician.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment components.
• Ability to read schematics and troubleshoot efficiently in the field.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
• Willingness to travel extensively and work outdoors in varying conditions.
• Self‑motivated with strong communication and organizational skills.

• Previous experience in road construction, soil stabilization, or earthwork.
• Familiarity with brands such as Caterpillar, Wirtgen, Volvo, John Deere, or similar.
• Welding or fabrication skills.

$40 - $50 hourly
