Overview
Wausau Country Club is seeking an assistant equipment mechanic to replace the former head mechanic who retired. As the assistant, you will work directly with the head mechanic on equipment repairs and maintenance. The head mechanic has 27 years of shop experience with a depth of knowledge of our equipment and regular golf course practices, offering learning opportunities. We are a Troon Golf managed facility, headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, which allows employees access to the Troon network.

Job Title: Assistant Equipment Mechanic
Department: Agronomy
Reports To: Superintendent and Head Mechanic
Compensation: Full time, hourly position. $20+/hr (D.O.E)
Some Expectations and Duties:
- Regular inspection of mowing equipment to ensure proper height of cut and cut quality.
- Routine oil changes on all equipment and carts.
- Tire repair and installation.
- Follow established protocols for preventative maintenance programs.
- Assisting with on course projects when needed.
- Regular and timely attendance.
- Assisting in snow removal during winter.
- Ability to train new employees on care for equipment.
- Record keeping of repairs for each machine.
- Frequently lifting 50-80 lbs.
- Significant time spent on the floor via kneeling or on a creeper.
- Temperature extremes from snow removal in winter to hot humid summer days.
- Bending, twisting, and overhead reaching are all needed for various machines.
- This person must be a self-starter, with strong work ethic.
- Desire to learn the intricacies of golf equipment.
- A general knowledge of mechanical maintenance is strongly preferred.
- Keeping a clean shop/work area is a priority.
- Knowledge of basic tool safety and how to use them.

- Weekend work required April – October, typically 3.5 hours each day, every other weekend.
