Overview

Hydro Tex Excavation by Pal-Con, Ltd. is a provider of hydro excavation services based in north central Texas; a division of Pal-Con, Ltd., we offer safe, reliable, and efficient excavation solutions for various industries across Texas and beyond. We are currently seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our growing team. If you have a passion for mechanics, a strong understanding of gasoline and diesel engines, and are excited to work with specialized equipment like hydrovac trucks, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on hydrovac trucks, including diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and vacuum pumps.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on light-duty trucks and cars (gasoline engines).
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and conduct thorough inspections to identify problems with engine performance and all other systems: electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and water.
  • Repair or replace faulty components such as engines, transmissions, vacuum pumps, and electrical wiring.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks including oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, brake inspections, and more.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical problems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Available for on-call emergency repairs.
  • Cost conscious, efficient, and effective.
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic, with a focus on hydrovac trucks or similar heavy equipment.
  • Experience as a mechanic with a focus on light duty trucks, equipment, cars, and gasoline engines.
  • High degree of technical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Own and provide ample quantity, quality, and variety of tools to successfully troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct issues as well as perform necessary maintenance and repairs (emergency and non-emergency).
  • Possess the physical characteristics necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. This position may be required to lift up to 50 pounds, sit, stand, lay, squat, stoop, kneel, climb ladder, and bend for extended periods of time in awkward positions in varying environments.
  • Strong knowledge of gasoline and diesel engine diagnostics, hydraulic systems, vacuum pumps, electrical systems, and other truck systems.
  • Familiarity with the operation of hydrovac excavation equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret specifications and directions.
  • Experience with computerized diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license (Class A with Tank Endorsement preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving and time management skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; must be cooperative.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; must be able to multitask.
  • Ability to interpret various equipment- and facility-related schematics.
  • Possess the ability, desire, and motivation to learn and progress in a challenging environment.
  • Safety conscious with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Results driven, committed, honest, dependable, and flexible with a strong work ethic.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, internet, and Google-based email.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Diesel Mechanics or related field.
  • Previous experience working with or maintaining hydrovac or other heavy trucks.
  • Previous experience working with light duty trucks, cars, equipment, and gasoline engines.
