Position: Meal Site Manager (Casual)
Location: Chilton

This position is a back-up casual position and there is no expectation of regular scheduled hours of work.

Under the supervision of the Aging and Disability Resource Center Supervisor, is responsible for directing and operating an efficient, enjoyable and safe Senior Nutrition Site to include proper food handling and sanitation, coordination of volunteers, care of the site's facilities during program hours, some coordination of site activities, and overseeing the packaging of homebound meals. Performs related duties as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Places daily order for the number of meals to be delivered to the site, receives (including providing assistance to delivery person) and ensures food quality from caterer and reports any problems to Aging and Disability Resource Center Supervisor. Performs necessary on‑site food preparation.
  • Directs volunteers in the set‑up, presentation, serving/packing, and cleaning up of meals, may do laundry. Assists individuals through the food line, as needed.
  • May assist volunteers in the set‑up, packaging and clean up of home‑delivered meal trays and carriers.
  • Assists Elder Benefits Specialist/Volunteer Coordinator and ADRC Supervisor with meal site programming and outreach.
  • Accepts and logs participant reservations.
  • Completes required (daily/weekly/monthly) paperwork accurately and in a timely manner for the following, but not limited to: daily reservation and attendance records, donation records, making daily bank deposits, deposit receipts, and yearly inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Informs the office of participant requests for transportation to the site.
  • Orders supplies, as needed.
  • Performs light janitorial work, as needed.
  • Develops rapport with program participants and volunteers and promotes a friendly atmosphere.
  • Enforces sanitation rules and regulations according to State policies.
  • Attends training sessions and staff meetings, as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities, but coordinates, trains and provides work direction to participants who volunteer at the site, in accordance with the organizations' policies, procedures and applicable laws.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience - High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year experience in food service or food handling for large groups, working with volunteers or seniors, preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to participants, volunteers, other employees of the County, and the general public. Ability to listen and communicate effectively in‑person, on the telephone, and in writing.

Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills - None.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations - None.

Skills and Abilities

- Good organizational and record‑keeping skills. Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment. Ability to work effectively with others and relate warmly and sensitively to seniors at all socio‑economic levels. Thorough knowledge of sanitation regulations, health problems of seniors, and other services available in the county.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work

Environment

Some sites may require occasional set‑up of extra tables and chairs. Physical ability to assist (on periodic basis) the delivery person in receiving food. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate noise.
