Overview
The Director of Quality-Operations at BW Paper systems will develop and lead the Quality Improvement Strategy and the cross-functional adoption of that strategy. The role includes developing and maintaining a quality management system to improve operating efficiency, quality, productivity, customer satisfaction, and profitability in a safe working environment.
Responsibilities- Develop the overall Quality Improvement Strategy and lead the management team in the cross-functional adoption and execution of that strategy.
- Develop and maintain a business/quality management system to improve operating efficiency, quality and productivity in operations, and increase profitability in a safe working environment.
- Continuously assess the Quality Management System, Quality Plan and Quality Organization to determine priorities for quality improvement.
- Establish key improvement priorities and, using a strategy deployment approach, develop and execute a cross-functional, strategic action plan to drive improvement.
- Identify leading sources of customer dissatisfaction, determine underlying causes, and develop/execute strategies to eliminate them.
- Determine true systemic root causes of internal failure and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and implement preventive actions to reduce COPQ and other waste.
- Drive improvements in process quality, production efficiency, and the elimination of factors that drive variability and disruptions.
- Incorporate standard work, effective training, and recurring process audits to ensure process discipline.
- Establish and maintain appropriate KPIs to provide objective evidence of improvement.
- Participate in training and coaching teams in standard quality improvement approaches and quality management standard requirements to develop organizational capability.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, quality, continuous improvement, or related field.
- 10+ years of professional experience leading a Quality Organization in a capital equipment manufacturing environment.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, Strategy Deployment, etc.
- Ability to independently resolve complex problems.
- Ability to manage a skilled and diverse staff, communicate effectively, represent the organization, act decisively, and influence decisions of senior managers and customers.
- Foresight to anticipate problems and recognize opportunities for cost-effective operational improvement.
