Responsibilities- Work in various production duties, including rotating to different job tasks.
- Operate machine operators and assist with handling and grading material, quality checks, cleanup, and other similar manufacturing activities.
- Follow written and verbal instructions and communicate relevant information to team members.
- Maintain safety by using personal protective equipment and adhering to site safety practices.
- Display good attendance and be prepared to work with forklift traffic and in a fast-paced environment.
- Support standardized work and be willing to cross-train for backup in other departments as needed.
- Tape Machine Operator: identify natural and mechanical defects on a 4x8 sheet of hardwood veneer; knowledge of grades and specifications; safety in tape machine operation; rotate through two piler positions; maintain quality and pace; use laser lights and stops to place panels correctly; monitor tape application; follow tape replacement protocol; support standardized work; adapt to grade specification changes; maintain good attendance;
communicate with grader and other pilers on belt; follow safety procedures (LOTO, JSA, REACH). - Splicer Operator: safe operation of splicer machine; knowledge of veneer specifications (species, thickness, size, pieces to splice for a 50x99 panel); maintain accuracy with veneer size fluctuations; book matching and slip matching veneer; sort odd pieces for high-quality panels; monitor machine function and controls; communicate issues to Team Leader and Maintenance; support standardized work; cross-train for backup; adapt to shift needs and maintain attendance;
follow safety procedures (LOTO, JSA, REACH).
