The primary role of the Slitter Operator is responsibility for setting‑up and operating a slitting machine to cut rolls of stock to specifications to ensure optimum safety, quality and production while minimizing cost, energy, and waste in our team‑based environment.
Job Duties- Support Environmental Health & Safety for the facility, following all current policies and procedures and improving environmental health performance.
- Set‑up and operate slitter machines to meet efficiency, quality and waste specifications.
- Maintain visual workplace standards.
- Complete required paperwork including visual check sheets and run condition sheets.
- Monitor and maintain quality by removing flag defects.
- Operate hoists and pallet jacks safely.
- Meet established percent of target production goals.
- Generate and complete necessary paperwork and forms including AIMS.
- Actively participate in all Continuous Improvement, Safety and Quality initiatives.
- Assist with continuous improvement activities, maintain WCOM changes and update machine/department boards.
- Practice safety in compliance with company and department guidelines.
- Perform housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe work environment.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment.
- HS diploma or equivalent/Technical experience.
- Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus to perform all functions safely.
- Must have the ability to distinguish color and pass a color blindness test.
- Regular attendance.
- Frequent interaction with others.
- Ability to work in a team‑based environment, assist others when needed and lead by example while focusing on safety, quality and productivity.
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to communicate both written and verbally.
- Frequent use of hands and wrists.
- Required to stand, sit, squat, bend, walk, lift and climb frequently throughout the day.
- 100% of the time spending in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to wear all personal protective equipment as required.
- Occasional stooping, kneeling and bending.
