Human Resources- Payroll Specialist

Position Summary

Poclain Hydraulics is seeking a HR Generalist / Payroll Specialist to join our Human Resources team in Yorkville, WI. This role serves as the primary owner of payroll operations for the site, responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across multiple payroll cycles. In addition to leading payroll administration, this role provides HR generalist support to the HR team, assisting employees and managers with payroll, benefits, and HR-related questions while supporting ongoing HR initiatives.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys balancing payroll ownership with broader HR responsibilities in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

• Process multiple payroll cycles ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance
• Maintain payroll systems (Paycor preferred), including employee data and payroll configurations
• Review payroll inputs including hours worked, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and tax with holdings
• Conduct payroll audits, reconciliations, and variance analysis prior to payroll submission
• Manage payroll tax compliance, reporting, and coordination with external payroll vendors
• Support year-end payroll processes including W-2 preparation and tax reconciliations
• Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions from employees and managers
• Generate payroll and labor cost reports for leadership

• Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, payroll, and benefits
• Assist with benefits administration including enrollments, changes, and carrier coordination
• Support employee relations matters and HR documentation
• Participate in HR initiatives including policy updates, compliance efforts, and HRIS improvements
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered)
• 4+ years of payroll experience, including processing multiple payroll cycles
• Experience with Paycor or similar payroll systems strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, and payroll tax compliance
• Experience performing payroll audits, reconciliations, and year-end payroll processes
• Experience supporting HR generalist functions such as employee relations or benefits administration
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and HRIS systems
• FPC or CPP payroll certification a plus
• This position is fully onsite at the Poclain Hydraulics facility in Yorkville, WI.
• The standard schedule is Monday through Friday during regular business hours, with occasional additional hours during payroll cycles, audits, open enrollment, or year-end activities.

This role is primarily performed in an office environment and requires extended periods of computer work and data entry. Occasional visits to the production floor may be required, where appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in accordance with company safety policies.
