Role & DepartmentClinical Education Specialist in the Organizational Learning & Development Department
Hours & ShiftPart-time (0.5 FTE) day shift position, flexible hours
Role Responsibilities- Collaborates with the Staff Development Coordinator, organizational leaders, and others to assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate education and training activities related to competency programs, education goals, practice/performance standards, associated policies/procedures, and orientation processes
- Participates in teaching clinical classes, such as Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and others based on priorities and needs of the organization
- Provides instruction for organizational initiatives to reach quality, patient safety, and other goals, aligned with the background and interests of the Clinical Education Specialist
- Assists in establishing an organizational culture that emphasizes improvement through teaching and learning, personal and professional development, and quality improvement
- Serves as an administrator for Health Stream and other tools utilized by the department
- Minimum of associate degree in nursing and current Wisconsin licensure
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in teaching, coaching, precepting, or training
- BLS/CPR Instructor within 6 months of hire, and maintain instructor status thereafter and teach classes at UHH and offsite
- Clinical background and willingness to teach clinical classes such as Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, ECG, etc., and obtain/maintain instructor status as applicable
- Willingness to teach nonclinical/general classes for Upland Hills Health
- Experience with applying adult learning principles/theory and educational software/learning management systems is preferred
- Good communication techniques: both verbal and written
- Adeptness in setting and achieving priorities for multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to work with others and independently
- Experience and dexterity in data entry and database reports; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to take initiative, self-starter, and solve problems independently
- Strong writing, proofreading, grammar, and spelling skills
- Follows detailed written or short verbal instructions well
