The Village of Campbellsport is seeking a skilled, detail-oriented, and service-minded professional to serve as its next Full-Time Village Clerk

🏛 Position Overview

The Village Clerk serves as the official record keeper and election administrator for the Village, ensuring compliance with Wisconsin Statutes and supporting efficient municipal operations.

This position works closely with the Village Administrator, Treasurer, Department Heads, Village Board, and residents. The Clerk also serves as a frontline representative of the Village — assisting residents, accepting utility payments, and providing direct customer service at Village Hall.

🔎 Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the official custodian of Village records
  • Prepare and publish Village Board and committee meeting agendas and minutes
  • Administer local, state, and federal elections
  • Oversee voter registration and ensure compliance with election laws
  • Issue and maintain municipal licenses and permits (liquor, operator, dog, etc.)
  • Manage public notices and legal publications
  • Maintain ordinance books, resolutions, and official documents
  • Coordinate open records requests and ensure statutory compliance
  • Administer oaths of office and maintain official filings
  • Accept and process utility and tax payments
  • Provide resident assistance and respond to public inquiries
  • Perform additional duties as required by Wisconsin Statutes and Village policy
✅ Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science, or related field preferred
  • Municipal government experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of Wisconsin election law and municipal statutes
  • Wisconsin Municipal Clerk certification (CMC/WCMC) preferred or ability to obtain
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with municipal software systems preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise independent judgment
💼 Compensation & Benefits
  • $56,160 – $65,520 per year

🕒 Work Schedule

Full-time (40 hours per week), primarily Monday–Friday during standard business hours, with evening meetings and election responsibilities as required.
