GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is the senior financial executive of the Tribal Government, reporting directly to the Tribal Chairperson and working in partnership with Tribal Legislators. The CFO provides strategic financial leadership, ensures fiscal responsibility, and supports the Tribe’s long‑term economic sovereignty and community development. This role oversees all financial operations, including budgeting, investments, risk management, and compliance, while serving as a trusted advisor to Tribal leadership.

Skills & Qualifications

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in business administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA and/or CFA designation strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally with national or international operations.
  • Demonstrated success in profit/loss management, capital planning, and organizational growth.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
  • Must successfully pass criminal background and credit checks.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate selected for hire will be subject to a drug test and employment will be contingent upon results of said test.

Duties & Responsibilities

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform the duties as enumerated under Chapter 98‑15 and with the authority as enumerated under 98‑18 and 98‑19 Section 11.60 of the Tribal Government Plan, Chapter 98 of the Code of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin.

  • Strategic Financial Leadership
    :
    • Advise Tribal leadership on financial impacts of policy decisions, programs, and business ventures.
    • Align financial strategies with the Tribe’s mission, values, and long‑term economic development goals.
  • Financial Oversight
    :
    • Direct budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes to ensure transparency and accountability.
    • Establish cash flow management systems to maintain liquidity and meet operational needs.
