The Mechanical Field Engineer of Large Diesel Engines is responsible for providing support of large diesel-powered generator sets within Rehlko Power Systems. This individual will be considered the primary expert for all service activities and issues for the large diesel engines product line. This role will be involved in all phases of the product life cycle to ensure service and technical support is consistent with the department and company philosophy.

Responsibilities
  • Actively participate in the product development process to ensure the product can be serviced and repaired effectively and that serviceability and low cost of ownership are considered during development.
  • Provide hands-on resources during development stages to learn the product and ensure product integrity and serviceability at release date.
  • Develop and implement special tools and equipment necessary to service the product.
  • In cooperation with the Technical Publications department, develop service literature, installation information, and other support documents for a high level of service support.
  • Provide training for Rehlko associates as needed for installation and service support.
  • Assist the Service Training department in developing online and classroom training programs; provide support for training customers at the factory and in the field.
  • Work with the Aftermarket Parts department to develop an initial factory service stock of replacement parts; develop a list of required parts for all levels of field service support including dealers and distributors.
  • Coordinate the procurement and release of special tools and equipment to ensure timely service repairs by Rehlko customers; this may include a special tool loaner program.
  • Develop a methodology for the release of software products used in the product line and ensure timely releases of software updates; communicate updates to all service entities.
  • Train other Rehlko associates as needed to provide backup support for customers.
  • Travel as needed to customer locations to investigate product issues and assist Rehlko distributors, dealers, and customers in resolving product issues.
  • If necessary, travel to customers to participate in repair activities with service entities, direct customers, and owners.
  • Perform failure analysis and prepare reports for the Quality department for corrective action.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical Engineering) from an ABET-accredited program or 10 years of experience as a mechanic with engines or Rehlko products
