JOB PURPOSEThe engineering manager leads a team of engineers at Diversified Woodcrafts in order to plan, organize, and direct engineering efforts to meet company objectives for design, new product development and improvement of existing product.
Location: Suring, WI
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead and manage overall activities of Engineering including support management of the Product and Data Platform Engineering staff.
- Assist Design and Drafting department with preparation of submittal packages of shop drawings and product data, resolving and reconciling discrepancies between architect/engineering plans and the company’s standard manufacturing processes and updating shop drawings to reflect all required revisions.
- Assist in the design, development, and evaluation of new products, as well as improvements on existing product lines.
- Oversee the management and maintenance of existing and new Platform Data Engineering structures.
- Develop and maintain SOPs regarding process and specifications for Engineering including ECN operations.
- Assist factory management in identifying, justifying, and implementing new industrial/capital equipment to improve production efficiency, quality, and operational safety.
- Work closely with Marketing and Sales in new product development activities including brainstorming, design reviews and product launches.
- Work closely with Customer Service to assist with questions regarding product specifications and offerings.
- Participate in the talent acquisition process, collaborate with Human Resources to provide unbiased feedback focused on candidate qualifications and consistently consider alignment with company mission, vision, and values.
- Provide an onboarding experience that allows employees to learn, develop, and acclimate to the company culture.
- Utilize results against goals to identify continuous improvement opportunities and communicate with those to all departments.
- Plan, establish, and communicate work schedules, assignments, and expectations to employees.
- Provide guidance through coaching, counseling, motivation, and disciplining to ensure accountability.
- Listen and address employees’ concerns to resolve issues and lead a culture of respect, teamwork, and collaboration.
- Continuously evaluate and provide feedback to employees. Collaborate with Human Resources to write and conduct employee performance reviews. Participate in employee terminations.
- Monitor and process employee attendance records/timecards and PTO in a timely manner.
- Provide leadership to all department activities focused on maximizing teamwork and productivity, minimizing costs, and maintaining a high level of quality standards.
- Work collaboratively with team and other departments to troubleshoot and implement actions that yield positive results.
- Serves as a role model for work ethic, behavioral conduct, professional image, safety training.
- Communication: Articulate complex matters and effectively express ideas and information in a clear and organized manner, so it is understood by others, both orally and in writing. Speak professionally with various levels of individuals to build strong professional relationships.
- Interpersonal skills: Interact and influence at all levels of the organization including executive leadership, cross‑functional teams, and third parties.
- Critical Thinking: Seek information, use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems, and make conclusions.
- Analytical Thinking: The ability to tackle a problem by using a logical, systematic sequential approach.
- Attention to Detail: Accomplish tasks and processes completely and with a high level of accuracy.
- Organization and task prioritization: Able to effectively prioritize tasks to allow for work with clear objectives and ensure that all efforts are directed and aligned with the company’s goals.
- Associate’s Degree in Engineering.
- Continued education in college or technical courses.
