Civil Engineer; Structural

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

You will serve as Civil Engineer (Structural) for the Middle East District in Winchester, Virginia.

• As a Civil Engineer (Structural) you will review studies, scopes of work, and preliminary and final design plans, prepared in-house, and by Architect-Engineers to assure that the structural building design is carefully conceived.
• Develop original plans, design analyses, and specifications, for complex structural building design features of design work accomplished in-house.
• Consults with engineers preparing or reviewing specifications, and estimates required for negotiation of construction contracts for the purpose of coordinating the preparation of bidding documents, with regard to portions relative to his specialty.
• Assure that all corrections and changes are incorporated into final plans, coordinating with other technical personnel.
• Visit construction sites to investigate and resolve problems which arise during the course of construction, and to interpret construction plans and specifications when questions arise as to the intent of design.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
