The Application Engineer is responsible for assisting customers and representatives in applying and selling product lines. #LI-EK1
A Day In The LifeEvery day at Hubbell is different and you'll contribute in many ways. On any given day, you'll make a difference by:
- Filters and/or responds to all customer and representatives inquiries.
- Creates quotes, manages and coordinates customer's quotes and orders.
- Supports customer meetings to discuss, refine and ultimately sell the proposed products and offer other product and enhancements/alternatives that would make the overall sale feasible for the Company.
- Supports customer meetings to negotiate contract price and terms and conditions of sale.
- Formulates and creates descriptive line item quotations based on standard unit costs, if applicable, and meets with the engineering management to establish one-time-engineering design hour estimates to meet the requirements of the proposal.
- Creates schedule estimates and final revised detailed quotation once internal and external negotiations are completed.
- Defines all of the product detailed specifications once an order is imminent.
- Meets with the engineering project group to transfer the project once a sale is complete to ensure specifications and timelines are well communicated.
- Facilitates, manages or drives special production orders to completion with the appropriate internal departments.
Typical duties include:
- Bid preparation
- Customer interface regarding technical issues, quality and scheduling
- Liaison between customer and internal resources
- Perform technical reviews of request for proposals
- Make product/alloy selection
- Obtain cost estimates
- Generate commercial and technical proposals
- Requires education generally equivalent to a 2 year degree or Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline.
- Up to 3 years of relevant manufacturing or industrial sales experience.
- Must have the ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, installation manuals, routings and other manufacturing instructions.
- Requires a working knowledge of ERP systems.
