Hi 👋 I’m Colin, Director of Engineering, Europe. We’re building an engineering team and culture that empowers technical ownership. I’m looking for an engineering manager to help us build that culture.
To start, why do we need to be different? Engineers often struggle to get things done because of process or lack of data. We want to normalize skunk works projects where engineers own problems and drive them to completion.
Our leaders need to think about individual performance, process, and culture—not sprint planning or product decisions. You’ll build a team that thrives with ownership and an environment that empowers them to do their best work consistently, with little distraction.
Responsibilities- Provide feedback on product and technical specs to help engineers cut scope or improve quality.
- Grow engineers to take large, loosely defined projects and deliver them with little intervention.
- Jump into systems and code to debug customer issues, ship small bug fixes, or improve developer experience.
- Improve how we generate and simulate data in demo accounts, impacting engineering, QA, and sales.
- Passionate about both management and technical work; can hold in‑depth conversations with direct reports across the stack.
- Enjoy management problems: driving people to be their best, giving feedback, building systems that make this easier.
- High standard of feedback and detail orientation.
- Excellent and empathetic communicator, facilitating change at individual and organization level.
- Deep understanding of what makes exceptional engineers and how to grow them.
- Thrive in high‑trust, high‑autonomy environments; can build strong feedback loops in a young startup.
- You don’t enjoy coding or can’t keep up with technology.
- You got into management because it was the only growth path available.
- You want to make all product decisions instead of empowering your team.
- You’re satisfied with a team of early‑career engineers with limited ownership.
- Not optimistic about building a large, different engineering team; expect compromises as we scale.
- Competitive salary and equity.
- 10‑year exercise window for stock options.
- Unlimited PTO with four weeks recommended per year.
- Generous equipment, software, and office furniture budget.
- $100/month education budget.
