Assistant Teacher

Summary

Little Sprouts Discovery Center is a non‑profit group daycare center located in Redgranite, WI. We are looking for an assistant teacher to work in our younger‑age classrooms for 30‑40 hours a week. Must be available to work anytime between 5:30 AM‑5:30 PM Monday through Friday. We prefer that you have already completed your initial child‑care classes or are willing to complete them as soon as possible after hire.

You must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

• Assist teacher in carrying out daily developmental programs for children of a variety of age and ability levels.
• Provide care and protection for the children.
• Give input toward curriculum development.
• Participate with children in daily activities to enforce safety rules, encourage development of positive social relationships and behaviors.
• Work as a team member to help develop each child's potential; report to the teacher any special problems a child may have in adjustment, learning, social interaction or motor function.
• Greet parents in a positive attitude daily.
• See that the classroom is neat, clean and friendly.
• Respect the dignity and basic right of each child.
• Assist children in eating, dressing and other activities to foster appropriate habits.
• Make daily observations on health of each child.
• Arrange classroom and prepare supplies for activities; may have responsibilities for certain learning centers.
• Assist teacher to ensure equipment is accessible and in good condition.
• Perform other duties assigned by the teacher.

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have completed high school or its equivalency as determined by the Department of Public Instruction.
• Maintain continuing education each year in accordance with licensing rules for group daycare centers.
• Be CPR and First Aid certified or be willing to obtain certification within six months of assuming the position.
