Overview
Under the general direction of the Deputy Warden, this position is responsible for the overall operation of the Records Office at Racine Correctional Institution (RCI). This position is responsible for the supervision of Records Office employees. This position requires an extensive working knowledge of the Statutes, Administrative Code, and changes, as well as court decisions and their proper implication concerning admissions and releases, incarceration, and sentencing computations to ensure the lawful commitment and release of Persons In Our Care.
Responsibilities- supervise Records Office staff and interpret court produced and other legal documents
- compute complex sentence structures and interpret computations and procedures
- interview Persons In Our Care and represent the institution in legal proceedings and to outside agencies
- coordinate temporary custody and custodial return of escapees
This position is in pay schedule/range 81-04 with an annual salary of $44241 - $78665
, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the State Compensation Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job DetailsApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.
The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.
The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.
This is a first shift position. Hours 7:45am - 4:30pm.
QualificationsThe qualifications listed below will be evaluated in the first step of the selection process and must be clearly described in the letter of qualification and resume:
- Performing complex mathematical calculations/computations, (e.g., performing sentence computations, accounting practices or financial/budgeting.)
- Performing supervisory or leadership role duties (e.g., training, assigning, reviewing, evaluating the work of others etc.)
- Monitoring regulatory activity to maintain compliance with records and documents and document management laws.
In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience:
- Researching of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations executive orders, agency rules etc.)
- Communicating with people outside the organization representing the organization to customers, the public, government and other external sources (i.e., by letter, phone, in person, virtually etc.)
- Analyzing, interpreting and applying state and federal laws, administrative rules and regulations
