Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN to work rotating 12-hour shifts in a combined ED/Urgent Care setting using Cerner EMR, requiring at least two years of recent ED experience and a WI or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Position is in a combined Emergency Department and Urgent Care within an acute care hospital setting
- 7 ED beds plus triage; expected 30-40 patients per day in a newly opening facility
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-4
- Requires ability to work both day and night rotating 12-hour shifts (7a-7p and 7p-7a)
- Weekend requirement of working every third weekend, with major holiday coverage required
- Floating required to inpatient med/surg if needed, and potential to assist at a nearby similar facility
- No designated triage or psych rooms, bedside triage is performed
- Cerner EMR in use; transitioning to Epic
- Staff includes one ED provider 24/7, a PA on site Monday-Saturday, and ED tech support
- No in-house Respiratory Therapy; RNs responsible for respiratory care and assisting with intubation and ventilator management
- Typical patient population includes cardiac, diabetic, stroke, respiratory, wound care, and transfer patients
- RNs responsible for bedside triage, drawing labs, and assisting with patient transport and monitoring
- Must be willing to be flexible with scheduling and block scheduling is utilized
- Scrub color is solid, likely Navy Blue but not mandatory yet
- New hires will receive unit orientation with 3 full shifts of training and required CBTs
- No 24/7 in-house security, but a panic button is available linked to 911
- Local candidates (within 80 miles) are accepted with an adjusted rate
- Returning employees must have been gone for six months and require hospital approval
- Active WI or compact state RN license required by start date
- Minimum of two years recent ED experience, preferably in a similar setting
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA); TNCC, NRP, and ENPC strongly preferred
- Must be comfortable working with limited resources and in a critical access hospital-type environment
- Ability to work both in the ED and inpatient areas as needed
- Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
- Must be able to read own cardiac strips using GE monitors
