Job Purpose and Summary

As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence. You will be the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, while providing caring service that exceeds expectations.

Responsibilities

A Technician is responsible for contributing to safe and effective operations of the pharmacy, including but not limited to:

  • Living our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Following pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating heartfelt moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; offering immunizations and other services; and solving or escalating patient problems.
  • Completing basic inventory activities, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries, completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting‑bin inventories, etc.
  • Contributing to a high‑performing team, embracing a growth mindset, seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, volunteering to travel to stores as needed.
  • Understanding and complying with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; complying with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled‑substance dispensing, record‑keeping, and patient privacy.
  • Delivering additional patient health‑care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntary staffing off‑site clinics) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
Immunization Responsibilities (if required)
  • Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
  • Educate patients about vaccine importance and refer to Pharmacist‑on‑duty for questions.
  • Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
  • Review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
  • Attention and Focus: concentrating on tasks, pivoting between tasks, confirming prescription info, ensuring label accuracy and patient safety.
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation: actively help people, notice patients’ reactions, respond appropriately.
  • Communication

    Skills:

    using and understanding verbal and written communication, active listening, asking questions, not interrupting.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: using math to solve problems such as determining tablet count, day’s supply, bottle quantities.
  • Problem Resolution: identifying challenging interactions and choosing best action.
  • Physical Demands: mobile, lift, scan, bag, reach overhead, move fingers repetitively, maintain precision, lift up to 20 lbs, etc.
  • Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Required Qualifications
  • Compliance with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing pharmacy practice, including age, education, licensure/certification.
  • Minimum age year 16 if state board does not specify.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or active enrollment in high school or equivalency program if state board does not specify educational requirement.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1‑3 years previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
  • Ability to work in the home store and across the market in other locations to meet business needs.

The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is
$16.00 - $24.00
