Position: Utility Employee I 2011

Overview

We Energies, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking Utility Employee I 2011 in Appleton, Sayner Crossroads, Spooner Crossroads, Wisconsin Rapids, Withee, and Sun Prairie. This position is represented by We Energies L2150 Union.

Responsibilities
  • Inspects and repairs customer house piping and appliances.
  • Installs, maintains and reads meters.
  • Tuns gas on/off.
  • Investigates and repairs gas leaks.
  • Performs compliance surveys.
  • Maintains vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspects the work of contractors.
  • Assembles, installs and maintains meter sets.
  • Investigates high bill complaints.
  • Assists with construction and repair work.
  • Operates construction equipment.
  • Locates mains and services.
  • Maintains company buildings and grounds.
  • Assists with Gate/Regulator and Valve maintenance and repair.
  • May be required to perform welding duties once qualified.
  • Miscellaneous duties as required or assigned.

Note: There is a State of Wisconsin indentured apprenticeship program associated with this occupation.

Current Utility Employee 1 - 2011 applicants must be a Gas Distribution Journey worker or have Journey worker status in accordance with the document "Existing L2150 work force and Journey worker Cards" or meet the requirements detailed in "L2150 GDA Letter Agreement".

Minimum Qualifications
  • Applicant must have a valid driver's license and meet the company's requirements for driving.
  • Applicant must obtain a valid Wisconsin commercial driver's license (CDL) within 90 days of employment.
  • The applicant must comply with DOT CDL and Part 199 pipeline drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Selected applicant must reside within 30 driving miles of their headquarters or crossroads location. In addition, employees in Customer Operations headquartered at a location with an associated service territory may reside within that service territory. Relocation may be required within 9 months for on-call positions or 12 months for all others.
  • Candidates may be required to demonstrate their ability to perform the physical functions of the position by completing a Physical Capacity Evaluation.
Testing Requirements
  • Gas Operations Test (GOT): DAT-Mechanical Reasoning; DAT-Space Relations; DAT-Numerical; PPM-Perceptual Reasoning; NEO-PI3 Personality measure.
  • Utility Employee I 2011 Structured Interview (UTIL-EMP):
    Competencies include Building Customer Loyalty;
    Planning and Organizing;
    Safety Focus;
    Quality Orientation;
    Decision Making;
    Managing Work (time management) and Communication Skills.

End Date: 02/06/2026

Minimum Posting Range: $27.19

Maximum Posting Range: $53.33

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at posting; starting salary will be based on factors such as education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, location, shift, travel, bargaining agreements, and business needs. At WEC Energy Group, starting near the top of the range is not typical.
