Role Summary
  • Identify and manage risks to the client through equipment on site, including updating drawings, identifying critical spares, improving performance of machinery, and implementing preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Use new equipment and technologies to maintain a working production environment, liaising with the client on requested PPMs.
  • Fault‑find on all types of machinery.
  • Support colleagues in the department regarding health and safety.
  • Provide electrical and mechanical expertise to the Maintenance Department working on heavy industrial machines and overhead cranes.
  • Write and follow risk assessments, and be available to address any arising issues safely and accurately.
  • Complete required documentation as specified by rules and legislation.
  • Work on three‑phase systems with voltages up to 440 V.
  • Work on motors, gearboxes, valves, and hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Use mobile devices to accurately project and complete any works from the CAFM Maintenance System.
  • Use email and calendar tools to plan daily work requirements.
  • Liaise with onsite site services to manage building‑services issues.
  • Act as responsible person when required for the department and deputise the shift leader during annual leave or sickness.
  • Work overtime, including nights and weekends, when the business requires.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as required.
Experience Required
  • Recognised or Time‑Served Apprenticeship.
  • Strong proven experience in manufacturing maintenance.
  • Electrical competence/qualification equivalent to City and Guilds 236 Pt 1–2 (18th Edition) or higher.
  • Mechanical competence/qualification acceptable to City and Guilds Mechanical.
  • Good multi‑skilled ability.
  • Experience working on 3‑phase motors, drives, and inverters.
  • Hydraulic/pneumatic experience.
  • Ability to fault‑find.
  • PLC diagnostics/repair competencies.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Electrical and Mechanical.
  • Ability to supervise contractors.
  • Ability to write risk and method statements.
  • Ability to understand and write permits.
Desirable
  • Working‑at‑height qualification.
  • IPAF certification.
  • AP qualifications.
  • Experience in heavy engineering.
