- Engineering position responsible for all aspects of the manufacturing processes at the facility.
- Manufacturing representative with authority to identify and evaluate all levels of manufacturing problems and to recommend and initiate effective solutions and corrective actions.
- Create a commercially practical, technically sufficient and economically sound solution for an assigned product.
- Determine the nature and working relationship of the various elements between the design and manufacturing processes.
- Follow up and assist in the preparation, implementation and maintenance of the manufacturing processes.
- Establishment of lean initiative requirements through the company‑wide manufacturing process.
- Conduct training of the production personnel on the requirements of the wheeled coach production system.
- Interface with other departments to identify opportunities to effectively implement new concepts for improvement.
- Work with plant employees to implement and track all lean tools to increase throughput, improve quality and reduce costs.
- Work with personnel from other departments to implement company‑wide improvement initiatives.
- Make engineering changes taking into consideration cost, operation, reliability, manufacturability, adjustment, assembly, weight, installation, clearances, serviceability, standardization, and adherence to industry standards and parameters to assure acceptable feasibility and integrity of the product.
- Maintain a complete, uniform and up‑to‑date record of all completed projects.
- Other management duties as assigned.
- Good understanding of the manufacturing processes and lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in an automotive‑related industry.
- Experience with standard work: conducting time studies of tasks, balancing these tasks to takt time, creating and posting standard work sheets, and implementing the new standard work with supervisors and operators.
- Experience with problem‑solving techniques (5‑why & root‑cause analysis) and with statistical techniques and data analysis.
- Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to interface directly with hourly employees as well as management-level employees concerning manufacturing initiatives and progress updates.
- Must possess a high energy level with a strong work ethic.
- Good PC skills with knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Basic experience with ISO 9001:2000 quality systems.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, layouts, and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Good understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
